After the election, I was repeatedly plagued by the same question - why did we get such a result? To find the real answer to this question, to understand the feelings of our members and voters, we launched the 'Zara Campaign'. With a new determination, we went among party friends and citizens.

Initially, we held special review programs in all seven provinces. We listened more to the candidates and party members than to our own speeches at formal events.

We had direct dialogue with our grassroots friends. We organized a consultation workshop and had an open discussion about the role of the party and the government with representatives of the local and provincial governments and friends from the working committee.

Upon returning to Kathmandu, we had intensive conversations with friends, well-wishers, and youth from various professions and businesses.

Even now, most of my time is spent meeting as many people as possible. I am meeting as many people as possible, from all age groups, professions, and all parties, whether they voted for the Congress or not. Some friends ask why I am not speaking now; the truth is, I am in a more listening mood now, and that listening is still ongoing.

Three main reasons for disappointment among voters and well-wishers

After listening to friends, members, and voters across the country for nearly three months after the election, we have formed some initial assumptions. We have identified problems and gaps and set priorities for addressing them.

Why is there such disappointment among our old voters? This is the main question that needs to be answered. Out of about 27-28 lakh Congress voters, 7-8 lakh are active members of the party. Out of the remaining 20 lakh, only about 1 million voted for the Congress this time and the remaining 1 million changed their vote. There were no new voters. Why were they angry with the Congress? Why couldn't they trust it?
