Kathmandu - The main opposition Nepali Congress has said that the government is trying to suppress the right to question. Congress whip Niskal Rai has said that an attempt is being made to establish that Prime Minister Balendra Shah should not be questioned. 

In Tuesday's meeting of the House of Representatives, Whip Rai warned the government to keep in mind that the right to ask questions cannot be taken away no matter how many times it wins a majority. 'The constitution is the supreme law. The majority is not above the constitution. The majority represents the people, it does not give the right to trample on the rights of the people,' Rai said. 'No matter how many times the government repeats its overwhelming majority of 182 seats, that number has not given the contract to silence the citizens who ask questions.'

Stating that the government is trying to stop questions being asked of the government by civil society, the opposition and the media, Rai has suggested that the government should take care of the constitution. 'The government is trying to establish that Mr. 8 Balendra Shah in particular cannot be questioned. This government is only warning the common citizen that Mr. 8 is above the questions that arise within the framework of the constitution and laws in the country,' he said, 'This government is also saying, you only say what I want to hear, you only see what I want to show, you only listen to what I want to tell, the circle of your freedom is not outside the zero that I have drawn.'
